All the entries are in alphabetical order, except for the listings of the four films, which are in chronological order. Only information from official sources has been used i.e. the films themselves, their novelisations and Twentieth Century Fox sanctioned material, such as press releases, production information, DVD bonus materials and official Internet sites. The spin-off novels and graphic novels are regarded as unofficial as they often contradict the films and their novelisations in many instances. Some information (e.g. the speed of the Auriga and how some of the prisoners died on Fiorina) has been worked out by me, and is not official, so may not be absolutely correct. Though regarded as official, the "Aliens: Colonial Marines Technical Manual" by Lee Brimmicombe-Wood (Boxtree, 1995) has it’s fair share of errors. It has been used as a resource where it doesn’t contradict the films and seems to fit in with the official information. CAPITALS denote a relevant entry for further information. Italics denote explanation. (Brackets) denote cast or crew member. Data from the Alien vs. Predator film is dubiously regarded by many fans in relation to the existing four Alien films.
